Ribo-INK: Ribonucleic acid Interdisciplinary NetworK

Lyon and Grenoble, two nearby cities in France’s interdisciplinary research network, host numerous research groups working on RNA biology. Their work spans RNA structure and function, transcription, splicing, nuclear export, translation, and gene regulation by small non-coding RNAs, in both physiological and disease contexts.

Ribo-INK aims to build a structured and sustainable regional RNA community by connecting these groups into a unified and interactive network. By bringing together RNA enthusiasts from different disciplines, career stages, and technical backgrounds, the initiative promotes interdisciplinary discussions, knowledge sharing, and the development of new collaborations.

Ribo-INK has been created in 2026 and is led by Karina Jouravleva (ENS Lyon) and André Verdel (IAB, Grenoble). They organize a minimum of three half-day scientific events per year, which are hosted at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Lyon and the Institute of Advanced Biosciences in Grenoble, rotating between the two cities to ensure balanced regional participation. Events include:
– Seminars by early-career researchers (Master’s and Ph.D. students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior tenured scientists),
– Informal discussion sessions on emerging topics or technologies,
– Networking opportunities designed to foster interactions across institutions and career stages.
Each event also features a national or international speaker to increase the visibility of the regional RNA community and widen our network. In addition, we envision organizing an international RNA symposium in 2028.
